With the PGL talk firing back up, I wanted to post an idea that I previously posted concerning tweaking the schedule and tours to address some of the weaknesses in pro golf that the PGL is attempting to exploit. I took some of the insight I got last time and edited the idea to incorporate the good ideas. I'd love to hear what you guys think. Warning, this is very long, but I wanted to be thorough. The gist is that a tour should be created above the PGA and European tour, with small, no cut events. Basically create what the PGL is trying to do inside of the PGA Tour's infrastructure. Relegation from every tour is constant. With those caveats, this is what I would do if I was the PGA Tour's commisioner: The goal of these changes would be to eliminate the threat of the PGL, increase the purse sizes and winnings for the top players, increase volatility of who is on tour and eliminate the hangers on, create better tournaments, work in conjunction to create a better TV product week in and week out, and bring all the tours together under one umbrella.
