My wife and I have decided to buy one. I am pretty content with stove top but people seem to swear by these things. I am looking for something that can make 4 cups uncooked (which I have read means I should get one that does 5+), able to do Jasmine, basmati, long grain and calrose, is fool proof to use. Grateful for what ppl think my best bet would be based on real world experience (I don’t trust the click bait aggregation reviews online)
I recently bought a zojirushi rice cooker. Game changer and worth every penny!
I have the 'Zojirushi NS-TSC10 Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer' and I cannot recommend it enough. I gets heavy daily use in our household and breezes right through it. Comes in a 5.5 or 10 cup. Also has a steamer basket, which is nice.
Zoji IH, don’t play around with the cheap stuff. Even a low end zojirushi is pretty good, but I prefer the IH (induction heat) models. I have the [NP-HCC10](https://shop.zojirushi.com/products/nphcc?variant=36287883706528) and I adore it, use it almost every day, grains, rice and porridge (oatmeal) I’ve never had a bad batch of anything. When you cook oatmeal, if it doesn’t specifically have an oatmeal setting, use the amount of water it says to use on the package, do not fill to the porridge line. I recommend you get a 10cup size, if you want to be able to cook 4-5 cups at a time, unless you only cook white rices. They are workhorses and will last a very long time 😊
Zojirushi people out in force, as usual. But those are pricey and not the only great rice maker. Consider Toshiba, Cuckoo, Aroma, and Hamilton Beach. If you are using it a lot, look at the KitchenAid rice maker which is a little different because it automatically doses the water for even less hassle and better delayed start. Pretty much any rice maker from $40 to $400 will make good rice, but ones with a long grain white rice function are probably worth focusing on because of your particular preference.
