Late to the party, but I was recently fitted for a GT2 with a KBS TD50 stiff shaft. Feelings are mixed after one round and a few range sessions. Good: Seeing an average increase of 8-10 yds on carry, can find the center of the face more often. Bad: Ball spin is relatively low (1800 rpm, give or take depending on strike) and tendency is to cut despite seeing draws during the fitting.
GT2: 268 average carry. 283 average distance. 2900 spin launch of 12-13 degree. Club head 106-110. Ball speed mid 160s. Much tighter dispersion. Already a draw player and I miss right sometimes with 975D but I could not miss right with the GT2 besides a straight push 15-20yards or so right when I flared it open a couple of times.
Anyone get a new GT this year? I had the tsr3 last 2 years and loved it. Decided to upgrade when my local store had 150% trade in value. Got the gt2 with the same shaft as my tsr. I absolutely hate this driver. I cannot hit it to save my life. And when I do manage to hit it somewhat well it's 100 yard shorter than the tsr.
The GT2 driver feels extremely solid behind the ball, even on mishits. While there is strong feedback on strike location through the hands, the feel never gets weak, thin, or unpleasant. I've created more ball speed with the GT drivers than any others I've tested. The Tour usage is now about 50/50 between the GT2 and GT3 models. The GT2 is not 'just' a playable Titleist, it's also every bit the Tour favorite that the GT3 is.
I tried it first in my fitting. Ball is HOT off the face, but control was not ideal. Went with a G440.
I expected more forgiveness based on the marketing. Off-center hits still lose significant distance compared to my G430 Max 10K. The sound and feel are amazing though, which is why I'm keeping it.
