The feel is not anything groundbreaking, which goes against TaylorMade's messaging. However you package it up, a game-improvement iron is still a game-improvement iron. They won't ever feel like one-piece forged irons. Exceptional dispersion through TM's straight distance technology. Superior aesthetic down at address. Two options (Max and Max HL) to suit the needs of all golfers.
I enjoyed testing both the Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, and would happily recommend them to any high handicap golfer. They're not the most eye-catching clubs I've ever tested, and the performance was very solid, if not spectacular. I think there's enough improvements in the sound and feel to justify the release of a new range, even if the performance is not much different to the previous Qi irons. TaylorMade have put a lot of effort into the sound and feel of these irons this year. They definitely didn't sound as hollow or clunky as some other game improvement irons I've tested recently.
With a more aspirational look and even more forgiveness, TaylorMade have set a seriously strong benchmark for high-handicap irons going into the new season. The Qi irons released in 2024 were easy hitting but simply too chunky for developing players who wanted a more aspirational club to grow into. The revised Qi Max presents and plays quite a lot like a larger P790 with a thinner top line, shorter blade length, and less offset.

Good old Taylormade QA. Love to see it. And sadly not surprising anymore. Another QC issue from TM... shocker. Unacceptable in my opinion. I know those aren't cheap. After seeing numerous Sim 2 Max drivers explode I questioned the integrity of their stuff.
Solid irons but I expected more for the price. They don't feel dramatically different from my buddy's Qi irons from 2024. The improved sound is noticeable but I'm not sure it justifies the full retail price. Wait for a sale.
After playing ten years with some old hand me down Taylor Mades I decided it was time to upgrade. Went with the Qi's because they looked great and everyone raved about them. But I'm struggling with the strong lofts - my distances are all messed up and I can't stop the ball on greens like I used to.
