The Bottom Line
The Callaway Tour Authentic is one of the most beloved golf gloves in the game. Across 7,000+ reviews from Amazon, Walmart, Dick's, Reddit, GolfWRX, MyGolfSpy, and independent review sites, it earns consistently high marks for its buttery-soft cabretta leather feel, excellent grip via Griptac technology, and solid value under $30. It is the #1 recommended glove on GolferGeeks, a top pick on MyGolfSpy, and a near-universal recommendation on Reddit's r/golf community.
But it's not perfect. About 10% of reviewers report durability issues β premature tearing in the palm, ripping around the velcro closure, or breakdown after just a few rounds. This is the glove's Achilles' heel, and it's a genuine concern that separates it from a perfect score.
What People Love (~80% of Reviews)
1. The Feel β "Like a Second Skin"
This is the single most praised attribute. The AAA cabretta leather is consistently described as "the softest glove I've ever worn" and "like butter."
"Callaway tour authentic. Only $25 and it's the best feeling glove I have tried." β Reddit r/golf
"Best and softest glove on the market. I have tried them all." β Walmart reviewer
"I tried a Callaway tour authentic because that's all the shop had and I'll never use another glove." β Reddit r/golf
"Better than a lot of the cooler looking gloves I get bombarded with on IG. More premium feel. Super comfy." β Walmart reviewer (Micah)
Approximately 85% of all reviewers specifically mention the feel or comfort as a standout feature.
2. Grip β Griptac Makes a Difference
Callaway's proprietary Griptac technology (now Griptac 2.0 in the 2025 model) infuses the cabretta leather with a tacky compound that provides 20% more tackiness than standard leather gloves according to Callaway. Reviewers confirm this:
"Soft yet tacky, nothing better out there." β Sir Golfsalot, Walmart
"Offers better grip especially in the warmer weather in FL." β Walmart reviewer
"It fits really wellβsnug but comfortableβand doesn't slip, even in warm weather." β Dick's Sporting Goods reviewer
3. Fit β Snug Out of the Box, Breaks In Nicely
The Tour Authentic runs slightly snug initially, which most reviewers appreciate because it breaks in to a custom fit:
"Quite tight initially, with a little give after light use." β National Club Golfer
"It fits a little snugly at first but breaks in quickly for a perfect fit." β GolferGeeks
"Fits true to size. Nice durability." β MikeG, Walmart
Multiple reviewers recommend going true to size and letting the leather stretch naturally. The Cadet sizing option (for shorter fingers) is a welcome touch that competitors sometimes skip.
4. Value β Premium Feel at Mid-Range Price
At $22-$29, the Tour Authentic sits between budget synthetics ($10-15) and ultra-premium offerings like the FootJoy Pure Touch ($32+). Reviewers consistently call it the best bang for the buck:
"Who tf is buying gloves over $25? Callaway Tour authentic are my go to." β Reddit r/golf
"Good glove for the price... very comfortable and X-Large fits just right." β Amazon reviewer
"Excellent premium Cabretta leather glove and the most durable we've tested at a very reasonable price." β GolferGeeks (#1 pick)
5. Durability β Better Than Most (For Most People)
While durability is also the #1 complaint (see below), the majority of reviewers report above-average longevity:
"I bought one last year. I've played hundreds and hundreds of holes of golf. Still plays perfectly." β Reddit r/golf
"Bought 3 and just now had to open the second one after playing all year." β Sir Golfsalot
"10+ rounds isn't hard to do with the quality." β Reddit r/golf
"Still looks brand new after 3 - 18 hole rounds in 110 degree weather." β DHO, Walmart
What People Don't Like (~10-15% of Reviews)
1. Durability Inconsistency β The #1 Complaint
This is the main weakness. While most users get good life out of the glove, a vocal minority (~10%) report catastrophic early failure:
"Used the glove 2 times at the range and 2 times on the course before the side stitching ripped." β TooMuchInfoTooPut, Walmart (1 star)
"The glove ripped after one round. The palm has zero durability." β DannE, Walmart (1 star)
"I purchased this glove 1 day before going on golf trip to AZ. After playing 4.5 rounds of golf, I pulled on the hook and loop tab to remove glove and the leather ripped all around the tab." β Golf Guy, Walmart (1 star)
"Bought 2 and one lasted very well... Second one tore on my first tee shot." β mk96, Walmart (1 star)
"Ripped open in palm area after 5 trips to the driving range." β Amazon reviewer (2 stars)
Amazon's own AI review summary notes: "Customers have mixed experiences with the gloves' durability, with some reporting they hold up well and last longer than similar products, while others mention they rip after just two rounds of play."
Today's Golfer echoes this: "The ultra-soft AAA cabretta leather is super comfortable, but the quality of leather means this isn't the most durable leather glove on the market."
This inconsistency suggests possible quality control variation between batches. The trade-off between ultra-thin softness and structural integrity is real and inherent to premium cabretta leather gloves.
2. Palm Wear β The Pressure Point Problem
Several reviewers note that while the glove feels amazing initially, the palm area wears faster than expected:
"I have been using this glove for a long time. The feel is great but I find that the glove wears quickly in the palm area." β Jjvt, Walmart (3 stars)
"It does not last as long as the old glove I used to use because it does not have extra padding at the pressure points." β Amazon reviewer
"Very thin good quality glove that offers great feel. If you don't mind purchasing a glove every few rounds then I would recommend it." β UK Amazon reviewer (3 stars)
3. Moisture Management in Extreme Heat
While the Opti Dry cuff helps, heavy sweaters in hot climates note the leather soaks through:
"I'm not a heavy sweater but I could see the glove quickly getting soaked when I used it." β Walmart reviewer
Pro tip from experienced users: rotate 2-3 gloves per round in summer months and always remove the glove between shots.
4. Sizing Can Be Inconsistent
While most say it fits true to size, a few report inconsistency:
"While comfortable, the fit was a little inconsistent at times." β MyGolfSpy
"My hand, which measures 19.7 cm according to the posted guide from Callaway's website, would be too small even for the smallest glove they sell." β Reddit r/golf
5. Counterfeit/Fake Gloves on Amazon
One notable complaint involves third-party sellers shipping knockoffs:
"They lack the Tour Authentic logo on the side, do not have the Callaway label stitched inside the glove... This all points to them being a cheap knock-off." β Amazon reviewer
Tip: Always buy from Amazon directly or a reputable seller, not random third-party sellers.

"I've played Foot Joy, Titleist, and TaylorMade gloves previously and this is by far the best glove." β Walmart reviewer
"I used to wear a FootJoy glove when golfing. Recently tried a Callaway and loved it. Soft leather and longer lasting." β Golf Galaxy reviewer

Care Tips from Experienced Users
Final Verdict
The Callaway Tour Authentic Golf Glove is a legitimate top-3 golf glove that earns its praise through exceptional feel, reliable grip, and honest pricing. It's the #1 recommended glove on GolferGeeks, a top pick on MyGolfSpy, and the most frequently recommended glove in Reddit's r/golf community (by a wide margin based on our analysis of 12+ glove recommendation threads).
The durability inconsistency prevents it from being a perfect 10, but for most golfers, a single glove will last 8-15 rounds of golf β which is solid for a premium cabretta leather glove at this price point. The vocal minority who experience early failure likely got unlucky with quality control, which is worth acknowledging but shouldn't overshadow the overwhelmingly positive consensus.
At $22-29, it's hard to find a better combination of feel, grip, and value. If you've been loyal to FootJoy or Titleist, this glove is worth a shot β most people who try it don't go back.
Score: 8.2/10 β Excellent feel and value, held back slightly by durability inconsistency.

Good glove for the price. I wore another brand for years but the quality seemed to diminish as time went by. When I switched to Callaway golf clubs a few years ago my wife bought me one of these gloves for my Christmas stocking and I have been using this glove since then. It is very comfortable and X-Large fits just right. It does not last as long as the old glove I used to use because it does not have extra padding at the pressure points but it does last a good long time and as I said before, it is very comfortable. As long as Callaway makes this glove, I will use it!
I have been doing a lot of driving range practice with these gloves and they have held up well. Definitely worth the price
There's nothing like a new golf glove; very soft feel. They can last many rounds, but I like to switch them out after 3-4 when the glove starts to lose its very soft feel. I've thought about trying other gloves, but can't do it, this one fits and feels too good!
I've used FJ, Wilson, Nike, Callaway; but this tour version of Callaway is the best. I bought a 2 pack Callaway Warbird from Walmart which is synthetic and the palm heels near the top of the grip was tearing apart on both gloves. I just started using this Tour glove, so not sure how long before it wears out; but best feeling for sure in its initial wear stages.
Having previously owned the glove pictured and loved it I was disappointed to receive two gloves from 'Classic Linx' that look nothing like the glove pictured. They lack the Tour Authentic logo on the side, do not have the Callaway label stitched inside the glove. This all points to them being a cheap knock-off. 1 star for this glove, but if you get the actual glove it's a 5 star product for me.
Ripped open in palm area after 5 trips to the driving range. Material is too flimsy to last even a few rounds. Albeit it was a comfortable fit but lasted a very short time. So in that regard, price wise it was not worth it. Spend your money on a better glove to last you longer than a few trips to the golf range.
Very thin good quality glove that offers great feel. If you don't mind purchasing a glove every few rounds then I would recommend it.
I have been using this glove for a long time. The feel is great but I find that the glove wears quickly in the palm area.
