I’ve rolled a Newport 2.5 since I was 14 years old. \n\nMy index has fluctuated from 4.2 - 9.7 over the past 5 years. My biggest weak point over that time frame has been putting, but I couldn’t bring myself to give up Old Red. It’s me, not the putter. Just need to practice.\n\nI was in 2nd swing picking up a repaired club, figured I would the LABs to see what the hype was about. They felt weird. The ball went straight most of the time, but I had zero clue how well I hit it. No feel for path, timing, sweet spot (if it exists on them?), nothing. Rolled the antidotes, rolled the spiders, meh. It’s me, not the putter.\n\nRolled the square to square sweeper for a few just to try the style. Felt like my top arm was a burden, but I liked the feel during the stroke. I grabbed the cruiser to roll a few for shits. Wow.\n\nIt felt like using the sharpest chef knife you’ve ever picked up to cut a steak after using a butter knife for 18 years. I am astounded.\n\nPutting in my opinion boils down to three variables - break, speed, and start line. I really hate the look of the grip and was going to swap it out with a Zenergy tour 3.0 super stroke putter. It’s 66g as well which is the same as stock apparently. Is this okay for the putter, since I hear you need to be careful with zero torque putters and changing the grip. I’m going to assuming use same amount of tape too to replicate same weight. But probably shouldn’t leave valuables in your car, ever. Also, “police seem to be no help” is a line that really irks me when someone says it. There’s no magic ball they can look in to and automatically see where your clubs are, or get the identity of the suspects. Sure they got the license plate, maybe. But if it doesn’t come back to the car it’s on, or if the plate comes back stolen, which is most likely the case, what would you expect them to do? \n\nFurthermore, the officer that took the initial report is not the one tasked with investigating any follow-up. This gets sent to property crimes detectives who probably have case loads in the hundreds. It’s also Sunday, that detective that gets assigned the case won’t see it for at least a few days. That’s even if the supervisor assigns it to them. It’s very possible the supervisor sees that the license plate doesn’t match and with no more leads, will suspend the case and you’ll get a notice in the mail/email/phone call etc. If there are leads, they will be looked into, but don’t expect much.
