He pointed out that I cup my left wrist during the backswing (and downswing) and this leaves my club face open at impact. Which matches my slice pattern of hitting balls. \n\nIt will take quite an amount of deliberate practice to get this sorted out as it feels really uncomfortable getting into the correct positions. Took five or so lessons before playing, joined a country club shortly after. Made good progress early, but stalled in the low 100's for a long time. As a lefty, I eventually broke 100 but never consistently. I took lessons from my club pro but never had a breakthrough. One magic round I shot an 89, but shortly after my swing started to fall apart.\n\nLast year was brutal. I couldn't find a way to make consistent contact. I'd have a handful of good swing results per round but never enough to have a hope of even parring a hole. Took more lessons, found that I had developed a nasty swing fault of cupping my lead wrist a the top of the swing which rotated the club way off plane, and it happened so automatically and so subconsciously that I couldn't fix it. It took so much concentration to keep the wrist flat that I couldn't make a good swing, and practicing it for months with the help of video and a Tour Striker wrist indicator that \"clicks\" never got to the point where it helped.
