I’ve repaired this model multiple times and I found it to be one of the most reliable across the Breville range because of the heating system not putting a lot of stresses on the internals because it doesn’t always stay hot, but also clever engineering things like nine bar OPV for the water pump, but also an OPV for the steam line which I’ve never seen on other models apart from the more expensive levels. This will mean that if you wand is blocked, you will not burst a pipe or a connector When you turn on the steam and the pressure is built up. This has been an issue on the barista express because a lot of the time the connector on the solenoid valve would give you a lot of leaks if the wand is blocked this happens a lot on the older models like three years, plus. Expensive repair once that solenoid is rusted","date":"2024-05-26","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"youtube","sourceUrl":"https://youtube.com/watch?v=vAqITPSyGC4","author":"@CantonSecurity","rating":null,"text":"It’s no wonder why your name command such respect in the coffee enthusiast world, you are a treasure and your channel has helped countless people to make informed decisions on what best suits their particular needs.","date":"2024-10-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"youtube","sourceUrl":"https://youtube.com/watch?v=vAqITPSyGC4","author":"@TapanPatel10","rating":null,"text":"I came across your channel after buying my Barista Pro this week. I \"upgraded\" from a Bambino Plus and ESP to this simply for the workflow and have not been disappointed. Do I prefer my Flair 58, yes, but in the afternoon and when I am making coffee only for me. I have had the Barista Pro for a few weeks now and have it nicely dialed in. I was surprised by your disappointment with it not preheating the portafilter. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I thought that was only found on much more expensive machines. Moreover, I have not typically been heating the portafilter, and I have had no issue whatsoever with “sour” coffee from using a room-temperature portafilter. The first few shots weren’t great until I got the grind and time dialed in, but once I had it tuned for my choice of beans, the coffee has been nothing short of excellent ever since, with no pre-heating (other than the cup, which I tend to do to keep my coffee hot longer).","date":"2025-12-31","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"youtube","sourceUrl":"https://youtube.com/watch?v=eMB0nicaZog","author":"@LeslieKailVillarreal","rating":null,"text":"how do you activate the hot water tap?","date":"2025-07-14","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"youtube","sourceUrl":"https://youtube.com/watch?v=anaUfOVQioY","author":"@lex_DO","rating":null,"text":"Once I started making my coffee drinks at home, you realize how unsatisfying coffee drinks are elsewhere.","date":"2025-06-04","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"youtube","sourceUrl":"https://youtube.com/watch?v=anaUfOVQioY","author":"@ILoveChanelLynn","rating":null,"text":"Thank you for your video. Are you going to come back daily to this subreddit to learn about new machines, check new grinders, post videos of your shots, post pictures of your new bag of single origin coffee beans, engage with the community, make this become a hobby? Or are you just here to get some advices and never come back? This machine is not really geared towards the people you will find here that made espresso their hobby. I have had that machine for 3 weeks now ( bought it discounted) and enough time to play with it. It satisfies all my need. The mighty grinder is plenty enough for me, I have close to zero coffee retention just by quickly closing/opening the lid of the hopper 3/4 times after grinding. ( most people buy a bellow for their grinder, this technique kinda replace the need of having one) Yes, there are clumps of coffee grind, but you should use a WDT tool (mixing tool) to prepare your coffee puck with any machine anyway. Once done, it’s not an issue. This is a great machine and if you get some fresh beans, learn about the essential steps of preparing your coffee puck, the espresso can be actually really tasty. Works well with medium and medium/dark roast. I like the 3 seconds heat up time too, you need to make a latte? You have hot steam right away. No need to wait 20 minutes for the machine to heat up. Yes it is not a dual boiler, and you will have to brew your coffee first, then steam your milk only after, but for me and my spouse, that’s enough. It also has instant hot water to heat up my cups or clean the portafilter. It has an alert when the water level is getting low in the water tank so you don’t damage your pump. It will remind you when it’s time for you to back flush or descale it. It has a hidden storage for my accessories. All this is making my life easier and I don’t think you will find this in other machines that are more pro level friendly. To me it’s a very good looking machine ( I have it in white) that can quickly make some more than acceptable coffee and doesn’t take a lot of space on my counter.","date":"2023-03-14","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"reddit","sourceUrl":"https://www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/comments/oy9pa3/breville_barista_pro_finest_ground_still_too_much/","author":"CommunicationBrave25","rating":null,"text":"Hello everyone!I am trying to dial in my Breville Barista Pro Espresso machine and I simply can't get it right it seems..I tried 2 different types of beans, I am using a double shot of 18 gr of the finest ground I can do with the built in grinder which seems pretty decent (level 1 out of 30!), I tamp and I brew on manual mode and weigh the output as the machine counts the seconds of the brew on the screen. It sounds counter-intuitive, but if you grind too fine you increase the likelihood of channeling occurring. Channeling is when the water being pushed through the espresso puck can’t evenly flow through it, and instead builds up in pressure until a channel is formed through which the water flows rapidly. One way to see if channeling is occurring is by inspecting the puck after the shot is finished. If channeling occurred, the puck will have one or multiple tiny holes/dimples or it will be uneven. Also, what roast levels of coffee have you tried? Sometimes too light or too dark of a roast can be difficult to dial in properly.","date":"2021-08-05","sentiment":"negative"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"reddit","sourceUrl":"https://www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/comments/oy9pa3/breville_barista_pro_finest_ground_still_too_much/","author":"Jklipsch","rating":null,"text":"I also have the same machine but relying on shops grinding until my grinder arrives. I timed the double and it’s 28-29 seconds. I found a manual pre-fusion of 8 seconds works ok with 17-18g. Agree with making the grinds coarser. When too fine, water runs through it too easy not being able to extract the flavors. By going coarser, it slows the water allowing it time for the extraction.","date":"2021-08-05","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"reddit","sourceUrl":"https://www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/comments/oy9pa3/breville_barista_pro_finest_ground_still_too_much/","author":"DtotheAN94","rating":null,"text":"Hey Guys, Been a couple years since the last comment, wondering if i could have some assitance as i've been struggling to dial in my barista pro. The first idea was to clear it by wire. Started from 0. 2mm, 1mm, then 0.8mm, 0.6mm I managed to figured out that ideal should be 0.4mm. Unfortunately in my location I could found only soft wire, but it should be hard steel as I couldn't push deep enough. In my case, the clogging was somewhere in the middle. That approach only a theory, but may help to overcome struggling that I had. DISCLAIMER: don't repeat if you don't know how to work with electricity, HIGH voltage! The next idea was to connect a pump directly to the heater and pumping only descaling liquid. Connected to forward and backward holes with slightly hammering the heater I managed to de-clogging it. Heater and pump was taken out from machine and connected on the table for safety reasons. Also, power cable was soldered to the pump due to vibration nature of pump and safety. Hope my experience will help others as it seems a common issue with that heater.","date":"2024-06-21","sentiment":"negative"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"reddit","sourceUrl":"https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/comments/1c2g5dx/breville_barista_pro_espresso_machine_clogged/","author":"Mountain-Animator859","rating":null,"text":"I found the heating element was clogged in my bambino. After I replaced the pump (not the problem, doh!) I visually checked to make sure it was getting water from the reservoir. It looked OK so I took apart the tube junctions after the pump (only the high pressure fittings using clips and o-rings - easy to put back together) one by one and found plenty of flow before the heating element but nearly zero coming out. I then back-flushed the element by injecting vinegar into the tube connecting the element to the solenoid (unclipped from the solenoid), using a small syringe with a piece of tubing to connect. Took a little bit of pressure but I immediately broke out some kind of clot. No big chunks came out, but it started flowing with little resistance. I'm currently letting it sit with straight vinegar inside and will flush thoroughly with water before I reassemble the machine. I'm fairly confident it will work but I may have to spring for a new element. It makes sense that the element would be the first to clog since this is where the scale originates. My understanding is that hot water cannot hold the minerals to the same degree as cold water, so the minerals precipitate inside the element. Our water is fairly hard and I have had problems with the steam wand clogging (easily cleaned) and the solenoid malfunctioning (trouble switching between steam/espresso), even with regular descaling (using 50/50 vinegar/water).","date":"2024-08-07","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"breville-barista-pro","source":"reddit","sourceUrl":"https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/comments/1c2g5dx/breville_barista_pro_espresso_machine_clogged/","author":"keavenen","rating":null,"text":"How did you get the back off the machine . Your “stutter” occurs right at the changeover between pre-infusion and shot. Your machine is designed to “pre-infuse” or moisten your puck with water before building pressure and pulling a shot.
